Time to get to work! Vehicle stripped back to basics, and 34 years of mud and grime washed off.
The mud covered a multitude of other problems, like opening Pandora’s box. Corrosion on the galvanized sides, a weeping wheel hub, rubber seals that didn’t, a radiator full of rust, and tyres that looked, well, tired. This isn’t supposed to be a mechanic’s lament, and I’ll try to steer clear of the boring and oily detail in future.
But Land Rover makes it so easy to fix things! Nuts, bolts, and screws in easy-to-see places. Solutions are obvious, if not always easily achievable. And because it’s a Land Rover, there are parts…
Here, some of the solutions in the making and a new set of instruments ready for testing. Kilometers travelled – one!
